What is your role at A.F. Smith?
I am a technician and mainly work on commercial and industrial projects. Typically, I work on programmable logic controllers and do a lot of work in voice and data networks.
How long have you worked at A.F. Smith?
I’ve been with A.F. Smith for seven years.
What does your average day look like?
My day consists of working with customers and managing a variety of electrical challenges that arise.
What led you to your career at A.F. Smith?
20+ years of being a half-watt.
What does being on the A.F. Smith team mean to you?
Helping my coworkers and coming up with solutions.

We get it done right the first time.
Who have been your strongest influences in life?
As a musician (guitar, sax, bass, keyboard, singing), I’ve been influenced by Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins and Wayne Kramer. As an electrician, I’ve been influenced by Fred Vigel who was a longtime IBEW 252 member, 252 business agent and President of the Huron Valley Area Labor Federation, and by Henry Miller who was the first president of the IBEW.
What are you most proud of accomplishing, personally and/or professionally?
Working on the VDV (Voice Data Video) program at the Ann Arbor Electrical Training Center. I was one of the first committee members back in 1999 and have worked on that program since its inception, both as a program designer and as an instructor.
