We love highlighting the outstanding members of our team. This month, we are spotlighting Colin Sorensen.

What is your role at A.F. Smith?

I am a warehouse assistant.

How long have you worked at A.F. Smith?

I’ve been here for one year.

What does your average day look like?

Each day I head to the shop and put together orders for the electricians. I also deliver the materials to the work sites, both commercial and residential. When I'm not out doing deliveries, I'm at the shop taking care of different odds and ends for future jobs and the property.

What led you to your career at A.F. Smith?

I had been doing insulation for three years and needed a change, but wanted to remain in the construction industry.

What does being on the A.F. Smith team mean to you?

It means a lot, and it helps that I like my coworkers.

Why should customers choose A.F. Smith?

People should choose A.F. Smith because we’re reliable and do quality work.

What is your favorite memory of working at A.F. Smith?

Delivering materials to the University of Michigan Survival Flight Helipad.

Who has been a strong influence in your life and how so?

My dad because of his strong work ethic, plus he has always looked out for me and helps me out whenever he can.

What are you most proud of accomplishing, personally and/or professionally?

I am most proud of graduating from the Army’s Air Assault school on my first try. The Air Assault School offers instruction on such skills as hooking up loads to helicopters and repelling out of a helicopter. I’m not a fan of heights, which made it an even bigger accomplishment.

How long did you serve in the army?

I served for a year and eight months at Fort Campbell, Kentucky

Veterans Day is coming up, is there a message you’d like to share?

Thank you to all who came before me who have served our country.
